MAMUN 2022 - Final Crisis Updates
In large part due to the actions taken by numerous countries, power restoration has been continuing in the United States, Mexico, and the Mediterranean, and no further blackouts have been reported. New hospitalization admissions are declining and the various medical concerns due to the outages including COVID-19 are under control.
Stock markets around the world declined because of the continuing trade route and shipping delays. There has been no international response in regards to addressing the shipping delays in the Mediterranean. The presence of Iranian troops is causing concern among neighboring nations and yet troops remain on the border. India has also mobilized troops on their border to protect against possible attacks. The presence of troops has caused civilians to evacuate those border areas, resulting in overcrowding in New Delhi and Tehran.China has refused calls from the international community to reinstate internet access to its citizens.
China reiterates it wants to prevent future power outages and that this is the best strategy if the hackers are based in China. China’s investigation has yielded some intel. It was discovered that there was a heavy movement of drugs during the first 4 days of the blackouts. The two centralized locations of the smuggling occurred across the Mexican/Texan border and across the Mediterranean Sea between Libya and Turkey. No smuggling has been detected in Israel at this time. After these smugglings occurred, banks known for working with crime syndicates saw substantial deposits and withdrawals into various accounts that were associated with known drug lords.
